Yunix (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Yunix mobile application.

2. Who this policy applies to
- The app is intended for people aged 16 and over
- If you are under 16, you must not create an account or use Yunix in any way

We collect limited personal data that is necessary for the app to function.
Account Information
- Phone number or email address (only used for authentication)
- Profile information you choose to provide
Location Information
- Approximate or precise location data to show nearby users and enable core app features
- You can control location permissions in your device settings or from within the app
User Content
- Messages, interactions, posts, comments, likes, friend connections, and other content you create within the app
Usage and Diagnostic Data
- Basic app usage data, timestamps, and crash diagnostics to improve app stability and performance
Safety and abuse signals
- Reports you submit (and related information needed to investigate)
- Blocking records and moderation outcomes
4. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used only to:
- Provide core app functionality
- Authenticate users
- Enable messaging and interactions
- Improve app performance and reliability
- Maintain safety and prevent abuse
5. Our legal bases (UK GDPR)
Under UK data protection law, we rely on the following legal bases
- Contract: to provide the app you request (e.g. creating an account, messaging)
- Legitimate interests: to keep Yunix safe, prevent abuse, and improve the service
- Consent: where required (for example, certain device permissions). You can withdraw consent in your device settings.
6. Third-Party Services (processors)
Yunix uses trusted third-party services to operate the app, including:
- Google Firebase (authentication, database/storage, security, diagnostics)
These services process data on our behalf and are required to protect your information.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We share limited information only when needed to run the app or comply with the law:
- Service providers (processors) who help operate the app (see section 6)
- Legal and safety reasons: if required by law, court order, or where necessary to protect users or prevent harm.
8. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK. When this happens, we use appropriate safeguards designed to protect your information (for example, contractual safeguards used by major cloud providers).
9. Data Retention
We retain your information only for as long as necessary to provide the service:
- Account data: kept while your account is active
- Messages/content: kept while your account is active
- Reports and safety logs: kept for a limited period to investigate misuse and enforce rules
You can request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app (see Section 10)
10. Your rights (UK users)
If you are in the UK, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to certain processing
- Request restriction of processing
- Receive a copy of your data (data portability) in some cases

You also have the rights to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) (the UK data protection regulator)
11. Safety, moderation and safeguarding
Yunix includes safety tools such as blocking and reporting.
Blocking another user will:
- Remove each other as friends
- Remove each other from messages
- Disable location transfer between the two users
- Disable any form of communication and location broadcasting between the users
Reports are reviewed and may result in content removal, account restrictions, or bans.
If you are in immediate danger, call 999. Yunix is not an emergency service.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data, including secure authentication and access controls. No system is 100% secure, but we work to reduce risk.
13. Children’s Privacy
Yunix is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly allow under-16s to create accounts. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will take steps to disable the account and delete data where appropriate.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where changes are significant, we may provide additional notice in the app.
